An astronaut traveling 87,000 light years into space crash-lands on an uncharted planet where she must resort to emergency measures to seek rescue. Can she handle the strange creatures and isolation — not to mention the absurd quirks of ATA, her robot companion — and find her way home?
From the award-winning team Alex and Olmsted, MAROONED! A Space Comedy is a show where innovative puppetry design meets joyful, meaningful storytelling. Live performance, shadow puppetry, and marionettes shine to delightful effect in a production that is“amusing, charming, delightful and, at times, utterly and completely astonishing” (DC Theatre Scene). The sci-fi comedy is packed with slapstick humor, parodies of classic space adventure tropes, and over the top mishaps, turning a life-or-death scenario into a comedic journey.
These performances, recommended for children ages 5+, launch UMS’s new Family initiative featuring performances created specifically for children. Everyone must have a ticket, regardless of age. Reserved seating, with pre-performance activities to be announced.
