Emmanuel Pahud, flute
Alessio Bax, piano
A star flutist only comes around once or twice in a generation — and it’s fair to say that this generation’s strongest candidate is the Swiss-born Emmanuel Pahud.
One of today’s most adventurous musicians, Pahud joined the Berlin Philharmonic as principal flute under Claudio Abbado at age 22, a position he still holds today. For this UMS debut recital, he performs arrangements of sonatas written for other instruments, allowing audiences to experience the works in a completely different soundscape.
