Czech Philharmonic Orchestra
Performance
“The Czech Philharmonic’s live performance breathes a conviction and beneath-the-skin rapture…” (Financial Times)
This legendary Czech orchestra, whose very first concert was conducted by Antonín Dvořák, comes to Ann Arbor under the baton of Semyon Bychkov, who was recently named music director and chief conductor of the ensemble. Alisa Weilerstein joins the pantheon of great cellists in UMS history who have performed the Dvořák Cello Concerto, including Piatigorsky, Rostropovich, and Yo-Yo Ma.
The Czech Philharmonic’s US tour is sponsored by the Karel Komarek Family Foundation.
