Ypsilanti Freighthouse
Yoga at the Freighthouse
This workshop, led by yoga instructor and Ypsilanti resident Marly Spieser-Schneider, will touch on fundamental physical and philosophical elements of the Iyengar Yoga practice, accompanied by live music by harpists Beth Henson (Sep 12) and Jordan Key (Sep 19).
This opportunity to stretch and breathe provides a unique experience for curious movers, providing a structure for developing awareness, exploring creative possibilities, and discovering new ways to move through the world. Participants will learn postures, ask questions, experiment, and play!
All levels are welcome (ages 12+), no previous yoga experience necessary. Bring your own yoga mat and a water bottle.
Marly Spieser-Schneider graduated from the University of Michigan with a BFA in Dance and is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor. She is rich in curiosity and believes wholeheartedly in the power of creativity and collaboration as vital skills in building the world we wish to live in. She strives to work with the body in a way that recognizes it as a source of power, a teacher, a tool for growth and a place for discovery and play. Her work – through teaching, facilitation, choreography, performance and personal practice – is all about using movement and our bodies as tools for self-realization, developing awareness and living well.
She currently resides in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she teaches and creates work. Her teaching style is based on learning technical specificity for the sake of knowing your options, tuning your instrument and creating structure within which infinite freedom and possibility exist.
