Ballet Folklórico de México’s performance on Sunday, February 6 will continue as scheduled.
Ballet Folklórico de México founder Amalia Hernández was a trained ballet and modern dancer. Drawn to the traditions of more than 60 regions in Mexico, Amalia choreographed dance performances that celebrate the country’s indigenous legends and traditions dating back to the pre-Columbian era. Amalia’s anthropological approach to dance performance is a veritable living cultural history of Mexico. Explore some of the signature movements and roots of this colorful and dynamic artform.
Join us February 9 for this 90-minute UMS 101 workshop that correlates with the February 6 performance of Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández. Deepen your experience and understanding of the performance in a fun, casual learning environment, facilitated by Susan Quintanilla.
UMS 101 is presented in partnership with Ann Arbor Recreation & Education.
