Nationally acclaimed vocalist, dancer, and songwriter and current UMS Artist-in-Residence Tunde Olaniran will perform songs from Stranger (2018), which weaves the history of his hometown of Flint, Michigan with the experiences of working-class people of color. The album was called a “finely calibrated mix of purpose and playfulness, executed to stylish perfection” by NPR, “pop caffeine” by Bust Magazine, a “totally vibrant declaration of worth” by The FADER, and “at once triumphant and defiant” by The New Yorker. Ann Arbor-based alt-soul singer/songwriter Dani Darling will open the show.
