Student HOUSE Party at NOW studios

Free
U-M Student Event

Featuring music from Clay in the Woods and Karen Jane Ludwig and poetry from Malin Andersson.

After the Friday, April 22 performance of HOME, students are invited to a post-performance HOUSE party at NOW studios, hosted by the UMS Student Committee. Reflect on the performance, enjoy music from student performers, eat food, and hang with others in a playful, bold, enchanting, and vibrant space.

Clay in the Woods

Clay in the Woods is a three-piece based out of Ann Arbor Michigan comprising of Clay Conley, Sierra Doss, and Piper Foulon. As is often the case with wandering through the woods, their work is a negotiation of the concealed and the revealed. With guitar, cello, and voice they write on themes of togetherness, otherness, and home.

Karen Jane Ludwig

Karen Jane Ludwig (she/her/hers) is a junior at the University of Michigan, where she studies voice performance. She is also working toward a multidisciplinary degree in music composition and performing arts technology, as well as a minor in arts administration and entrepreneurship. Karen Jane is living each day to the fullest, soaking in every ounce of knowledge she can. Creation is life, and to KJ, the freedom to believe, feel, and create without restraint is critical. This year, Karen Jane has been composing graphic scores, which are paintings that guide improvisatory music-making. There’s a world of painted color in Karen Jane’s brain, and while creating, she feels the most at peace and present with the world at large.

Malin Andersson

Set to graduate from the University of Michigan at the end of the month, Malin studies Creative Writing & Literature with minors in Writing and Music. She’ll be reading a selection of poems from her fairytale-inspired thesis entitled “Breadcrumbs” in which she explores what it means to leave home, and finally, return.
