School Day Performance

Now celebrating over two decades of dynamic, adventurous, and imaginative music-making, Imani Winds is a groundbreaking ensemble deeply committed to education.

With a focus on illuminating the cultural connections between the African diaspora and Western classical music, this woodwind quintet (flute, oboe, horn, clarinet, and bassoon) performs for audiences around the world, commissioning music from new voices that reflect historical events and the times in which we currently live.

This high-energy livestream, designed specifically for our K-12 community, will introduce your students to these fabulous musicians and their instruments while hearing music by composers of diverse musical backgrounds. Come join us on this musical adventure!

To complement Imani Winds’ performance, our UMS Learning Guide offers context about the ensemble and music of the African diaspora.
