Salsa Dance Night at the Freighthouse

Join Mambo Marci from Michigan’s largest salsa dance organization for a night of salsa dance at the Freighthouse. Dance instruction begins at 6:30 pm, with open dancing to live music by LL7 Latin Jazz beginning at 7:30 pm. All are welcome, no matter your skill level or experience. Come by yourself or with a partner. See you on the dance floor for a night to remember!
Note: The Freighthouse floors are old hardwood, with uneven spots and bumps. Please leave your best dancing shoes at home and wear comfortable shoes you can move in.

Marci is a well-respected dance instructor and producer of many salsa-centered events in metro Detroit and surrounding areas. A guest on Fox 2 Detroit TV several times, and winner of local salsa dance competitions, Marci has been dancing for over 20 years and teaching for about 10 years. As Executive Director of YA Salsa, the largest salsa dance organization in Michigan, Marci loves to share her passion for salsa dance and music with the community. YA Salsa is a Michigan Nonprofit that provides monthly classes, salsa socials, dance performances, and live salsa music and events for the community.

Hailing from Metropolitan Detroit since 2009, this 7-piece ensemble presents an exciting mix of both Latin and straight-ahead jazz, with an emphasis on tight, creative arrangements.
LL7 Features Sax, Trumpet, Trombone and vocals driven by the rhythmic pulse of Piano, Acoustic Bass, Drums and Latin Percussion. The band won a Detroit Music Award in 2016 for their CD Motor City Mambo.
They play club dates in some of the best-known jazz clubs in Detroit, including Cliff Bell’s, and Baker’s Keyboard Lounge. They have been featured on the Music Hall Discovery Series radio program in Detroit, and have been featured at the Detroit Jazz Festival, the Michigan Jazz Festival, and others in Michigan and Ohio. LL7 has also developed a loyal following of Latin Dancers from local dance clubs.
