Reading Art Across The Curriculum: Observe. Infer. Inquire.
For grade K-8 educators
Visual art is a medium that students of all reading abilities can access. This workshop introduces the language of visual art to teachers of all levels of familiarity, to feel confident looking at, thinking, and talking about art with their students. Back by popular demand, arts integration consultant and national board certified reading specialist Melanie Rick leads participants through an interactive workshop that explores how a library of images can be used to efficiently build background knowledge, teach content, generate points of inquiry for research, and assess understanding in language arts, social studies, and science. In connection with this workshop, demonstration lessons and consultations with Ms. Rick will be offered.
This workshop is recommended for Grades K-8 Reading Specialists, Elementary, Middle School, English Language Learners, Special Education, and Art Specialists.
