Decompress: A closing night celebration of No Safety Net

Events

Having important, often tough, and constructive conversations is worth celebrating.

After three weeks of No Safety Net, with over 20 performances and many community dialogues and workshops, we all deserve a little self-care. Join us for a relaxed closing night celebration featuring DJs and musicians from Detroit’s Seraphine Collective, appearances by No Safety Net artists, mixing and mingling, snacks, and a cash bar.

Free entry with a No Safety Net ticket stub, or $5 cover; cash bar.

Performers include

Mother Cyborg

Mother Cyborg is here to escort you into the future with love. On April 29, 2017, she released her debut album, Pressure Systems, an opus to the power of self-transformation. Months later her project, The Equitable Internet Initiative was featured on Vice Motherboard, bringing attention to the power of technology rooted in community need. She nurtures female aspiring DJs through her Beat Match Brunch workshops, revealing the science of mixing records. Her work builds opportunities to connect stories, invigorate the soul and elevate our collective consciousness of technology.

Ahya Simone

Ahya Simone is a Detroit-based harpist, singer, artist, and organizer. She earned her degree from Wayne State where she was the principal harpist for the Wayne State University Wind Symphony in 2011. She has performed extensively in Detroit, and internationally in Scotland, and Canada and her versatile approach to harp and vocals ranges from classical, jazz, and soul. She is an emerging filmmaker (Detroit Narrative Agency 2.0 and Knight Sundance Fellow 2018) and is developing a web-series, Femme Queen Chronicles, along with Trans Sistas of Color Project.

Seraphine Collective DJs Haylo and Hainsto

DJ Haylo is a music writer turned music selector. Constantly exploring new scenes and sounds DJ Haylo seeks to create a divine dancefloor for ALL of earth’s beings.

DJ Hainsto is all about playing jams that are all about chilling. Usually known to play lots of hip/hop, HipHop/Jazz Combo and Chill electronic music.
