Choreographer Bill T. Jones has never shied away from giving audiences a lot to think about, and his latest work brings together two impulses: the social/political and
the deeply personal.

A Letter to My Nephew is an intimate multimedia piece for nine dancers, composed as a celebration of and meditation on the life of his nephew, Lance T. Briggs. A scholarship student at the San Francisco Ballet School, Briggs became a successful model and songwriter before falling into drugs and prostitution. Jones set the work as a series of postcards to his cherished nephew, weighing the difficulties of his life alongside today’s political landscape.
