Falling Up and Getting Down:
A Season-Opening Live Skateboarding + Music Celebration
Great improvisers are known for their ability to adapt quickly, and creating your own individual style through improvisation is at the root of both jazz and skateboarding.
Free, with advance registration required. Exhibition begins at 2:30 pm.
For this UMS season-opening event, which is the culminating event of the Ann Arbor Skatepark’s third annual celebration, UMS and Friends of the Ann Arbor Skatepark give back to the community with a unique event that brings together artists and athletes in unexpected ways. With X Games legend Andy Macdonald leading a group of celebrated skateboarders and Jason Moran & The Bandwagon providing the charts, this 360-degree immersion showcases the art of improvisation in both music and sport.
Several area food trucks will be available onsite from 1-6 pm on Sunday, including:
Ricewood BBQ
Bigalora Wood Fired Pizza
Cheese Street, gourmet grilled cheese
Reilly Craft Creamery, handcrafted Ice Cream
This event will happen rain or shine, though the safety of the athletes will be prioritized if skating conditions are poor.
On site registration will be available but we encourage you to register in advance and to choose the print-at-home ticket option.
A co-presentation with Friends of the Ann Arbor Skatepark in collaboration with City of Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation.
