School Day Performance for Grades 2-12:
Imani Winds

Digital Event
School Day Performance

UMS is thrilled to welcome back the Imani Winds. This ensemble has led both a revolution and an evolution of the wind quintet through their dynamic playing, adventurous programming, and imaginative collaborations. Join us for this exciting, interactive K12 performance that will take us on a musical journey around the world, featuring compositions by Lina Mathon Blanchet, Georges Bizet, Paquito D’Rivera, and Valerie Coleman. Students will learn about each of the instruments found in this ensemble and experience the dramatic displays of sound as well as the subtle, intricate musical conversations of performing in a chamber music ensemble.

To complement this School Day Performance, our UMS Learning Guide offers additional context about the artist, jazz, and improvisation.

PROGRAM (Mon 10/27/2025: UMS Digital Presentation)

Lina Mathon Blanchet: Haitian Folk Tale
Georges Bizet: Overture to Carmen
Arne Running: Quodilbet (a medley of classical music’s favorite tunes)
Paquito D’Rivera: Wapango
Traditional, arranged by Valerie Coleman: Go Tell it on the Mountain
