Local movement artist Maurice Archer will perform a breakdancing demonstration and lead families in an interactive workshop. Immediately after, families will participate in an art-making workshop with Curtis Wallace, who will guide participants through developing breakdancing names and creating their own unique signature (or tag).

A father of 5, Archer was raised on Ann Arbor’s westside, developing a love for movement at a young age. Son of a US Army ranger and practitioner of martial arts Archer uses these concepts to add to his unique engaging teaching style providing a fun, enriching, and exciting learning experience!

Archer has taught break dancing for almost 2 decades and performs alongside his students at local festivals and special events.

Curtis Wallace
Curtis Wallace

Curtis Wallace is an artist, teacher, yogi, muralist, dad, husband, and the founder of The Be Creative Studio. Born in Flint, Michigan, and raised in Ypsilanti, Curtis has studied and observed art for more than 35 years. With 27+ years of teaching and instruction, he strives to make meaningful connections with his students and lasting relationships in the community through art and creativity or all forms and mediums. The Be Creative Studio is a mobile/ virtual studio founded to make art and creation accessible to more students and communities of color to provide a positive outlet and a safe place no matter where you are to express yourself.
