Join UMS teaching artist Joseph Richards as he introduces this magnificent instrument, and even teaches you how to make your own beginner violin at home. About the Artist
Joseph Richards is in his fourth year as a 5th-grade orchestra teacher in the Troy School District (MI). He graduated from Adrian College in the winter of 2016 and has completed two of three summers at the University of Michigan studying a Master’s in Music Education. Joseph is also the conductor of the Flint Youth Philharmonia Orchestra at the Flint School of Performing Arts. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, exercising, composing, music production, and playing golf. Professionally, he has played in masterclasses with Ida Kavafian, Joseph Silverstein, and also is a substitute for the Traverse Symphony Orchestra.
