How do you Series:You? feat. Jake Gibson
Series:You is the most popular way to become a UMS season ticket holder, offering discounts and flexibility with any 5 or more events from the 2022/23 season.
We’re asking UMS staffers what events they would choose as their top five. We hope this provides inspiration for you to craft a Series:You performance season that’s as unique as you are!
This week, Jake Gibson, UMS’s Digital Marketing Coordinator, shares his picks:
Jake’s Top Five
The Rite of Spring / common ground[s]
Friday, October 21 – Saturday, October 22
“This production was set to premiere in 2020 but was halted by the pandemic. Luckily, their final rehearsal was filmed on the beaches of Senegal, resulting in Dancing at Dusk – A Moment with Pina Bauch’s The Rite of Spring. I watched this in early lockdown and was blown away. I was thrilled when I found out I would have a chance to see it here in Ann Arbor. ”
Béla Fleck My Bluegrass Heart and Punch Brothers
Friday, December 16
“It’s hard to imagine a better night of bluegrass. I’m expecting some serious shredding.”

Ontroerend Goed
Friday, January 20 – Saturday, January 21
“I love work that doesn’t fit neatly into any category. I’m really intrigued by the mix of theater, visual art, and performance art in the play. It’s sure to be unlike anything else you’ve ever seen.”
Farida and the Iraqi Maqam Ensemble
Sunday, March 19
“Farida, the first Iraqi woman to perform maqam in the US, is a one-of-a-kind artist and a true master of the form. This is going to be one to remember.”
Julius Eastman’s Femenine
Wild Up
Sunday, April 16
“I really admire Wild Up’s mission to preserve and animate Julius Eastman’s work. It’s also always special when you can experience large-scale minimalist music in person. I love being able to lose myself in the repetition and development.”
