Ambassadors
If you are passionate about the arts, want to connect deeply with UMS, and are looking for fun and exciting volunteer opportunities, UMS Ambassadors is a great match for you!
Ambassadors work to increase awareness of and participation in programs by assisting UMS staff with projects and special events, ushering at K-12 School Day Performances, helping to create partnerships with the University of Michigan, schools and community groups, and providing support in countless other ways. In particular, Ambassadors champion UMS’s Education and Community Engagement mission.

Usher Corps
The UMS Volunteer Usher Corps consists of a dedicated group of people who enjoy the performing arts. Ushers contribute to enhancing audience members’ experiences through their positive attitude and knowledge of performances. Typical tasks include greeting patrons, distributing programs, directing patrons to seats, addressing disturbances and distractions, and assisting patrons with special needs.
We are now accepting volunteer usher applications for the 2024/25 season!
If you have specific questions about ushering, you can contact the volunteer manager at ums-frontofhouse@umich.edu.
POST Team
If you love attending performances and have a few hours to help UMS in the Ann Arbor, Saline, or Ypsilanti area, this program is perfect for you. Volunteers earn two tickets in exchange for posting promotional posters in local businesses and neighborhoods.
Student Committee
The University Musical Society Student Committee (UMSSC) is a U-M student organization that connects students across campus to UMS and provides experience in arts administration, marketing, and event production.
Committee members host events, attend performances together, reach out to students across the university, meet professionals in the performing arts field, and have the opportunity to earn free tickets to UMS events. All U-M students are invited to join!
