Parking Updates

Between updates to the University of Michigan’s event parking system and construction around campus and town, there’s A LOT going on!

Please see information below about parking updates, and check this page frequently while we share the latest known road closures and disruptions for upcoming events.

New Event Parking Procedures

Event parking across U-M structures is now cashless and fully automated. If you do not have a valid U-M parking permit, event parking will cost $10, payable by credit or debit card when you enter the structure.

Rest assured, U-M parking staff will be available for the first few UMS events to assist with the transition.

Parking FAQs

Which garages offer event parking?
Good news! Event parking locations have expanded and are now available in all U-M structures on central campus, including the Thayer Street (Hill Auditorium), Fletcher Street (Power Center), Church Street, Hill Street, and Thompson Street structures. You will not need to leave a receipt or any other proof of parking on your dashboard.
What if I have a U-M Blue or Gold permit, or a Retiree after-hours permit?
You’re in for free! Simply enter the parking structure at no charge based on the policies of your current permit. During event parking hours (4 pm to 5 am), citations will not be issued for backing into spaces without a front-facing license plate.
What if I am a UMS subscriber?
UMS subscribers will be mailed a physical pass that can be used for multiple events across the 26/27 season. Please keep track of how many parks you have used, and do not lose this pass, as it cannot be replaced. The passes were created by Parking Services, and we will not be able to secure additional passes.

When you arrive at the parking structure, simply scan the bar code at the bottom of the new event parking machines for entrance (you do not need to insert the pass into the machine). You will not need to show the pass when you leave. Please keep the pass in the plastic sleeve to protect it, and do not laminate it as that will interfere with the machine's ability to read the code.

Please note: the parking pass will not be valid at the Arthur Miller Theatre surface lot. This lot has not been converted to the new system that enables the bar code reader. Event parking at the Arthur Miller Theatre lot will cost $10, payable by credit or debit card.

Is valet parking available?
Valet will be available for all fall Hill Auditorium events except for Lupita Infante. A limited number of valet spots will be available for $40 (cash only). Drop-off on the north side of East Washington Street, directly in front of Rackham Auditorium.
What about accessible parking and drop off?
With North University Avenue in front of Hill closed through at least Thanksgiving, we are still working with University and City partners to develop systems for accessible parking drop-off and pick-up.

Street Closures

Please read pre-performance emails carefully and visit this page before you arrive for the latest information and updates. The area around Hill Auditorium, in particular, will be under construction throughout the fall, and we fully expect late-breaking news about access to the venues.

We are currently working with the City of Ann Arbor, the University, and the construction contractor to ensure as seamless a system as possible for people to park and get to the performance venue, but we expect some disruptions and late-breaking changes.

We look forward to welcoming you to UMS’s 148th Season. We know that the fall will be challenging with the construction projects around Hill Auditorium and ask for your patience and flexibility as loyal attendees as we navigate these changes together.
