Session 5: Global Beats in the Aisles
Over the years, UMS has turned Hill Auditorium into a global stage: a platform for cultural exchange, learning, and community pride. In this session, explore UMS’s history of global music performances at Hill Auditorium, including recent performances by Mexico’s Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and Benin’s Angélique Kidjo.
What was it like to be in Hill Auditorium in 1913? This season Night School focuses on 100 years of UMS at Hill Auditorium and illuminate the special history behind the great performers and performances that have shaped our community. These 90-minute “classes” combine conversation, interactive exercises, and “lectures” with genre experts to draw you into the themes behind each performance. Professor Mark Clague joins us again as host and resident scholar.
In collaboration with the Ann Arbor District Library and the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
