Chiara Quartet: Free Community Concert
Friday, October 19, 2012, 8:00 pm
Storefront at 314 S. Fourth Avenue
In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the UMS Chamber Arts Series, the Chiara Quartet, lauded for its “highly virtuosic, edge-of-the-seat playing” (The Boston Globe), will take chamber music out of the concert hall and into the streets during a three-day educational and community residency. While in residence, the Chiara will work with young musicians from Ann Arbor and Detroit and with students at the University of Michigan. The residency culminates with a free community pop-up concert at the storefront at 314 S. Fourth Avenue in Ann Arbor (across from the Blake Transit Center).
Show notes:
Cash bar available featuring wine, beer, soft drinks, and snacks. Doors open at 7 pm.
Program:
The Chiara Quartet will announce selections from the stage, to include works by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Gabriela Frank, Jefferson Friedman, Nico Muhly, and Dvorak’s “American” quartet.
UMS is very grateful to property owner Matt Zahn for working with us to offer this gift to the community.
